Fellow sailors:

What a strange and windless year it has been. The practice race and the last race of the year were all that afforded a respite from the doldrums of drifting. Thank you all for your cooperation and competiveness throughout the year. The final get together after the last race missed a few of the veterans but over all was very well attended.

Many thanks to Mark and Janet for hosting the festivities and the spread that was afforded us. Thanks to Dick Laferte and his stewardship these past three years and his diligence in covering the races during open weeks, as well as maintaining the continuity of the slew of hats and shirts for the club. I hope it's something we can keep going.

Thanks too for the continued support of Doug Kell Jr. and his computer expertise and Chuck for keeping the committee boat in repair and always dependable for use. We have been lucky to have Chuck and Doug Sr. over the past years and their efforts. We almost take the boat for granted and don't realize the work involved.

The following received awards for the 2004 Season:

Season Handicap Placement: 1st - Bob Fraser
  2nd - Harry Peddie
  3rd - Chuck McClead

  Actual Finish Placement:

Displacement Hulls: 1st - Joe Guaraldo
2nd - Bill and Polly Barron

Planing Hulls: 1st - Harrie Peddie
  2nd - Ian Cohen
  3rd - Tom Johnston

  Multi-Hulls: 1st - Mark Eggleton
  2nd - Chuck McClead
  3rd - Bob Fraser

Portsmouth Handicap Placement: 1st - Harry Peddie
  2nd - Mark Eggleton
  3rd - Chuck McClead

The final race was one of the most exciting with a great course set up by Chuck M. and puffy conditions that saw new racer Burnie Gaff capsize at the finish. Welcome to Lucerne, Burnie, and great first year.

New officer positions are yours truly as Commodore, Mark E. as Vice Commodore and Chuck M. as the purser.

Over the next few months, we want your thoughts on instituting more social events and racing activities. We will try to stay in touch over the winter with everyone with a possible mid-winter get together in mind.

So "drain your hulls and wax your bottoms" and check your email over winter.

Mike C
Commodore
